Rightwing MK to Netanyahu: GOP should nominate YOU for 2012

Yossi Verter quotes in Haaretz a funny exchange between the PM and Likud MK Danni Danon, who until recently led the opposition to Netanyahu in his own party:
…the Likud faction, which has a hard-line right-wing bloc, was easy on Netanyahu. MK Danny Danon told him at the meeting, “You gave an excellent speech in Congress. Maybe you should run for president on behalf of the Republicans? I hear they’re looking for a candidate. You could be the man.”
Netanyahu cut into Danon’s remarks: “My visit to Washington was bipartisan. I made sure of that. When the members of the Republican Party’s Jewish leadership wanted to visit me in Blair House, I asked them to come with the parallel forum from the Democratic Party – and I met with them both.”
The rest of the dialogue appears only in the Hebrew version of the article:
“Anyway,” insisted Danon, “you should run for president on behalf of the Republicans. You are the man they are looking for”.
“If you want, you should run,” replayed Netanyahu.
Cute.
Ha’aretz needs to busy itself with more important reporting. Such as, for example, writing headlines that don’t call 18 and 19 year old Palestinians who brutally murder Jewish parents and their young children “teens.”

@Maayan: to be honest, this piece wasn’t the main story in Haaretz’s article, just a funny anecdote that caught my eye.
Ma’ayan,
18- and 19-year olds are teenagers or teens. Maybe you want to change objective facts in favor of total spin. You should go on FOX News.
Tom, 18 and 19 year old Israelis are soldiers at this age and when there is reporting about them, they are not called teens. These two terrorist murderers are “teens” if you’re a publisher seeking to frame their story sympathetically, but then you’re not a publisher with any integrity.
